Aung San Suu Kyi agrees to enter by-elections to Parliament

Things have changed in Myanmar since November last when the ballot was held to give the regime a sartorial make over. President Thein Sein not only acknowledged recognised Aung San Suu Kyi as the voice of the people which cannot be ignored but also surprised the world by freeing the media and trade unions. Yet, Suu Kyi’s decision to accept Thein Sein’s word at its face value and join Parliament has not gone down well with her followers. If Damascus can be detached Tehran that will be a big gain since what happens in Syria and with Syria will have a bearing on the entire region. It borders Israel, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey and Jordan. A regional player of significant influence it has been a supporter of Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza....

Yet, China has not name them either and merely termed the Khotan clashes as ‘an organized terrorist attack’....
