Secret funds are the mainstay of secret agencies but in Pakistan, even the Information Ministry and the Ministry of IT are blessed with such funds – the former for buying support of lawmakers in countries like UK and the latter for use mostly on AJK. The Public Accounts Committee of Pakistan Parliament is investigating one such payment of 135,000 pounds to a British MP. On the political front, MQM and PPP appear to be patching up; former foreign minister S M Qureshi is expected to float his own party and align with ‘the raising star’ Imran Khan. ...

Large scale transfers have taken place in the Sindh police, particularly the transfers at the DIG level. These transfers at a time when the governor, a MQM nominee has put in his papers, shows that the PPP –MQM split has almost finalised and that the PPP is getting ready for live after MQM. Pakistan’s Al-Qaeda chief has released a short audio message where in he warns of attacks on institutions within in Pakistan. So an upsurge in militant activity appears imminent....
