Two years after re-establishing diplomatic ties in2007, Myanmar and North Korea are collaborating in arms production, arms sale and training.  The Korean weapons are reaching Yangon over land routes through China.

Army chief General Thura Shwe Mann and 16 other top ranking Burmese officials visited Beijing and Pyongyang last November when the collaboration was worked out.  The visits were primarily billed as study visits, aimed at benefiting from the experience of China and N Korea.

A report on Radio Free Asia says the Myanmar delegation was shown North Korean surface-to-air missiles and rockets, along with naval and air defense systems and tunnel construction, including how Pyongyang stores aircraft and ships underground to protect them from aerial attack.

The delegation also visited a Scud missile factory.
